The UK and Polish governments have guaranteed a £249 million loan to support the construction of a major solar power project in Turkey. The loan, which was provided by UK Export Finance (UKEF) and its Polish counterpart KUKE, will help to finance the construction of a 100MW solar power plant in the southern Turkish province of Adana. The project is expected to create up to 500 jobs in the UK's renewable-energy sector.

The UK government has said that the loan is a "landmark collaboration" between the UK and Poland. It is the first time that UKEF and KUKE have jointly guaranteed a loan for a renewable energy project.
