Guillaume Meurice Blague

Why the Silence at First and the Book Today?

Guillaume Meurice Explains Himself for the First Time

A Controversial Joke and Its Aftermath

On October 29, French comedian Guillaume Meurice found himself at the heart of a controversy after a joke about Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. The joke was widely interpreted as anti-Semitic, and Meurice was suspended from his radio show.

In the months since the controversy, Meurice has remained silent. But now, he has released a book titled "Pourquoi le silence dans un premier temps et ce livre aujourd'hui?" (Why the silence at first and this book today?) in which he explains his side of the story.

In the book, Meurice argues that he is not anti-Semitic and that his joke was not intended to be malicious. He also criticizes the media for its role in the controversy, arguing that it sensationalized the story and ignored the context in which the joke was made.
