Bayer 04 Leverkusen have announced the contract extension of their Ecuadorian defender, Piero Hincapié. The 22-year-old center-back has signed a new deal that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until 2027.
Hincapié joined Leverkusen from Argentinian club Talleres in 2021 and has quickly established himself as a key player in the Leverkusen defense. He has appeared in over 50 Bundesliga matches for the club, scoring two goals. He has also represented Ecuador at the international level, earning over 20 caps for his country.
Sporting director Simon Rolfes praised Hincapié's development and said that the club was delighted to have extended his contract. "Piero has made a significant contribution to our team since joining us two years ago," Rolfes said. "He is a talented defender with great potential, and we are confident that he will continue to play a vital role in our future success."
Hincapié expressed his happiness at extending his Leverkusen contract. "I am very excited to extend my contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen," Hincapié said. "I feel at home here, and I am grateful for the trust that the club has placed in me. I am committed to helping the team achieve its goals and winning titles."
With the extension of Hincapié's contract, Bayer 04 Leverkusen have secured the services of one of the most promising young defenders in Europe. The Ecuadorian international is expected to play a key role in the club's future success.
